FMDG is a grassroots organization run by dedicated league members and volunteers. We are always actively recruiting new skaters, volunteers, referees, and non-skating officials! Those interested in becoming derby skaters are invited to enroll in one of our Freshmeat training courses. In Freshmeat class, our knowledgeable training committee will work with you to develop the skills you need to play women’s flat track roller derby both safely and competitively. To be eligible to enroll, you must be 18+ and demonstrate basic quad roller skating ability. You can find more information on our FAQs page in the Prospective Skater section. For questions or to sign up for our next Fresh Meat training course, please contact us at FMDGbout@live.com.
Catch you on the flat track!

As a valuable part of FMDG, referees can and are encouraged to attend practices to help with scrimmages and drills. No previous derby experience is required but dedication to the sport is a must. Referees are the source of information on rules and gameplay. Like skaters, referees are required to carry WFTDA insurance and pass a minimum skill test. Refs are also encouraged to make a fool of themselves at after-party. For more information about reffing, contact our Head Ref at FMDGofficials@live.com.
Non-Skating Officials and Volunteers
Volunteering is a fun way to meet people, be involved in the sport, and get into roller derby bouts for free! Whether you like working as crowd control, helping with bout production, or getting into the nitty-gritty of penalty tracking and derby statistics, we have a role to suit you. Join the NSO (non-skating official) Team! NSO’s help the league by tracking and timing penalties, timing jams, keeping score and much, much more! If you would like to join us, you can contact FMDGinquiry@live.com, and they will be in touch with you about upcoming opportunities to get involved!
