Sponsor the FM Derby Girls
Thank you for your interest in the Fargo/Moorhead Derby Girls (FMDG). FMDG is dedicated to the evolving culture and sport of the American pastime of modern roller derby. FMDG challenges social stereotypes and strives to provide positive role models for young and old alike. Through the league’s bouts, events, and other outreach, FMDG brings athleticism and creativity to what NBC Nightly News calls, “The fastest growing sport in America.”
The women of FMDG are also interested in contributing to the local community of Fargo/Moorhead by donating profits, goods, and volunteer time to local community efforts and organizations. FMDG is unique from other sports teams and businesses because the skaters themselves from the Fargo/Moorhead and surrounding areas manage it. Our league is separated into various committees that include treasury, marketing, sponsorship, training, and more. Each of the women on our league is drawn to this sport due to their love of the ever-growing international sport of roller derby. However, in order to maintain the motto of “By the Skaters, For the Skaters” each skater on the league is expected to contribute or participate in the business end of the league as well. The women of FMDG learn how to create and maintain professional partnerships with local businesses, file taxes, and everything else that is required to run a successful business in the state of North Dakota. The skaters handle all aspects of bout production, and contrary to popular belief, there is nothing staged or scripted in the sport of flat track roller derby, unlike the banked-track sport we knew as roller derby of our yesteryears. Our organization provides a healthy athletic outlet for the women involved, an opportunity to bring our community together, and also insight and valuable business training to the women involved. The result is a refreshingly honest and genuine entertainment experience for all who attend.
Why Sponsor FMDG?
"If you think it’s just a bunch of girls skating around in circles, you’d better think again."
Fox Sports Channel, March 26th, 2006
-
FMDG is a locally run, grass-roots organization that is both owned and operated by the skaters and it is a women-positive organization that promotes athleticism, and healthy competition for women of the Fargo/Moorhead and surrounding areas.
-
Roller Derby is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation (NBC, 2006).
-
Once established FMDG plans to apply for membership in the Women’s Flat-Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The WFTDA is the governing body for roller derby in the United States, much like the NFL, NBA, or NHL to other sports. Once members of the WFTDA, North Dakota will be included in Regional’s and Nationals where we will be eligible to compete against the nations top roller derby leagues.
-
FMDG participates in local community efforts and supports our local businesses and non-profit organizations through donations, goods, and volunteer work. All additional sponsorship dollars, revenue from bouts, fundraising, and merchandising are reinvested into the league and pay for many expenses, including insurance, promotion, security, and space rentals.
-
FMDG is available for personal appearances for our sponsor’s events and we make a splash wherever we roll. On a national scale a derby leagues hometown press just can’t seem to get enough of their local daredevil divas. FMDG skaters will draw continual interest from local, national, and international publications. Nothing captures attention like 50 tough roller girls on wheel at your event!
-
Both FMDG fans and skaters are from all walks of life. In any given roller derby league you will find that the skaters regularly consist of women that range from occupations such as stay at home mothers, artists, lawyers, doctors, students and the list goes on. Within the diverse crowd you will find mothers, fathers, kids, grandparents, co-workers, college students sitting side-by-side and cheering on their favorite skaters and teams.
"It’s official – You girls are nuts."
Matt Lauer, Today Show, NBC

We grew the brand +18% in 2006 thanks in no small part to our ongoing partnership with this dynamic, exciting and FUN organization. For us, success is a lot more than selling more boxes. It is also about community and good will and quality of life. What would we do without Roller Derby and Lone Star Beer?"
