2010 was a great year for FMDG, so great that we were able to make over $14,000 worth of charitable contributions! We could not have done this without all the support and fans from the community. We hope to make 2011 just as great of a year, and hopefully better!

Roller girls and their fur-babies were out to walk their paws off last Saturday, September 11, 2010 in support of the FM Humane Society and their 20th annual PAWS walk. FMHS has over 600 animals come through their shelter every year, and on average it costs approximately $503 to care for every animal they take in. This no-kill shelter cares for each one of them until they find new homes, no matter how long it takes. With FMDG matching individual skater collections to $200 we were able to contribute $520 to the humane society. We hope every cat or dog finds that forever home. Hug your fur-kids and let them know how much they add to your lives!

Annabelle was born in June of 2009 to Troy and Liz Hannig. She was born with a right clubbed foot and a severely deformed left leg to include the absence of a left foot. So far, Annabelle has undergone a series of casts and a tendon surgery to attempt to correct the clubbed foot. Every week, Troy, Liz and Annabelle make a trip to the Shriner’s Hospital in Minneapolis which results in lost work time, travel expenses, and emotionally and physically draining hospital visits. Annabelle is facing a series of prosthetics, a likely amputation, and physical therapy appointments to help her learn to walk.

The Dorothy Day organization is a Moorhead, MN based non-profit agency that is dedicated to serving the homeless and hungry in our community. Dorothy Day Food Pantry was FMDG’s year long sponsored charity. League members volunteered once a month in assisting clients in a grocery store-type setting. Dorothy Day Food Pantry was also our March charity of the month and received some proceeds from our bout.
