FMDG No’ Pains Take Second in Sioux City Tournament

The Fargo Moorhead Derby Girls’ (FMDG) travel team The Nothern Pains took second place last weekend at the Rolling Along the River roller derby tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.  The annual tournament pitted several leagues from within the upper Midwest against each other in a double-elimination competition.  Fargo-Moorhead won their first bout of the morning 156-15 against the Norfolk Bruizin’ Bettys, a fledgling league out of Nebraska.  This win was followed by a 101-6 victory over the Rushmore Rollerz in round 2 of the winner’s bracket.  In their last two bouts of the tournament, the Fargo Moorhead Derby Girls faced their toughest competition in the Sioux City Roller Dames, the third-year league hosting the tournament.  Sioux City and Fargo traded the lead back and forth throughout the 30-minutes of play, Sioux City finally securing the win by one point (41-40) in the last seconds of the game.  The two leagues faced off again in the tournament championship game, in which Fargo lost to Sioux City 45-72. Fargo jammer Shock Therapy was recognized for her performance during the tournament, and team captain Sargent Largent was awarded Most Valuable Player for FMDG by tournament officials.
