We recently participated in a podcast with Sundog Marketing on social media promotion. We got to talk about how we’ve been using social media to interact with our fans, and how excited and grateful we are for everyone who contacts us through these avenues. Joe from FM Bootcamps was there as well to discuss how social marketing has affected his business. All in all, it was a good time!

The derby girls are pleased to announce their first bout of the 2010/2011 season will be held at the Urban Plains Center on October 2nd. A freshly drafted Travel Team (new name to be determined!) will take on Winnipeg’s Murder City Maidens, with a pre-bout featuring two of FMDG freshly drafted four teams.

Special Party Pit Tickets Available

There will only be about 200 of these sweet tickets available. For just $25 each, party tix holders will have exclusive rights to the Suicide seats PLUS all you can drink beer (21+). Tickets go on sale September 3rd!

August 29th and September 19th from noon to 5 FMDG members will be participating in Streets Alive!, a community event promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. The girls will be in the US Bank Plaza ready for you to come skate with them! Don’t disappoint, a stood-up derby girl you don’t want to see.

FMDG will be skating in the Potato Days Parade at 5:30 in Barnesville, MN. Come and hang out with the girls, eat some awesome food, and maybe partake in a little mashed potato wrestling.

It was an awesome event! The men’s derby team, Rock City Riot, sealed up their Freddy vs. Jason theme bout at 74-73. The girls all dolled up as Kings vs. Queens took the stage and ended the night with Kings on top by nearly double the points!

Overall a great time was had by everyone with a stellar after-party as well. If you missed it, you missed out! Make sure to get your tickets to our season opening bout October 2nd for more fabulous derby sportswomanship!

UPDATE:
Due to such an amazing response, we now have a full roster (80 skaters!) and will no longer be accepting any new skating recruits at this time. BUT we are still always welcoming new officials and other volunteers, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you’d like to be a part of the league. Thank you!

Want to be a derby girl? Are you 21 or older? Then listen up! We will be holding tryouts at Skateland Skate Center beginning at 6PM on July 20th. Please visit our FAQ for information on what gear you’ll need, and what to expect as a skater of the league.

Tryout Checklist:

• Download and fill out these forms from our Welcome Packet and bring them to tryouts or e-mail the completed forms to info@fmderbygirls.com.
• Bring your valid driver’s license.
• Bring a helmet and wrist guards. We may have some available to share if you do not have any.

Tryout Order of Events:

• 6-6:45pm Check in, fill out app, get picture taken

• After the above is done, get skates on and go skate laps

Not 21? That’s okay! If you are 18 or older and want to get involved, you can still be a part of the league as a volunteer. We are always looking for skating and non-skating officials.
