Become a Skater!

We hold Fresh Meat training sessions over 3-5 months, at least twice a year. Our Fresh Meat training program is designed to teach you basic roller derby skills, and bring you up to the level of a beginning player. All skaters must be able to pass the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) minimum skills and rules test at the end of Fresh Meat, before they are allowed to play, for their own and other players’ safety. Having previous experience on quad skates is beneficial and will help you advance quicker, but many of our current league members had no quad skating experience before joining FMDG.

Become a Referee!

Love skating, but not crazy about playing a contact sport? Referees are a vital part of roller derby - they make sure that everyone is playing fairly and safely. And, unlike players, referees can choose to skate in either quads or inline skates.

Become a Non-skating Volunteer!

We would be nowhere without the awesome individuals who help us by keeping score, announcing, acting as medics, tracking statistics, taking tickets, and more at every bout. If you don’t have time available to commit to being a skater or referee, but still want to be a part of our league, volunteering is a great way to get to know us!
